Travel vaccination centre
At our samedaydoctor Canary Wharf clinic, we offer advice on all travel vaccinations. As we are a licenced Yellow Fever centre we can give advice and administer the Yellow Fever vaccine onsite.
Yellow Fever is a virus transmitted by the bite of female mosquitoes and is endemic to parts of tropical Africa and South America.
Hepatitis A and , Typhoid can be transmitted by infected food, drink personal contact and is associated with countries that generally have poor hygiene and sanitation, Diphtheria / Tetanus / Polio should be given as part of the childhood immunity programme in the UK, however, it is recommended that booster vaccinations be given to persons travelling to certain high risk areas.
If you have a complicated itinerary it would be very helpful if you could send us an email with your detailed itinerary to include when you are due to leave, purpose of visit i.e. business/holiday, length of stay and order of visiting each country, and any know allergies to vaccinations. This will help us plan which vaccinations you will need.
As a general rule you should get most travel vaccines at least 2 weeks before you leave. Other more specialised travel vaccines might require more time, so please check and rather call us at samedaydoctor Canary Wharf 0845 372 9990 to ask rather than risk leaving it too late.
Our travel vaccine services
- Travel vaccine consultation (usually there is a charge, which is waived if you get vaccinated by us) giving advice on risks and recommended vaccinations
- We can help with prescriptions needed for antibiotics for travellers diarrhoea
- We can dispense antimalarials (malarone) onsite
Our popular travel pack available contains the basic vaccinations needed for most developing countries. It includes Hepatitis A, Typhoid, diphtheria, tetanus and polio. None of these vaccinations are “live” and can therefore be given safely even in pregnancy.
As mentioned we are a licenced Yellow Fever Centre. This means we are authorised to give advice on and administer the Yellow Fever vaccine onsite. It is important to note that the Yellow Fever vaccine is a live vaccine and therefore there are extra precautions to be taken when vaccinating. Therefore all of our vaccine consultations are 30 minutes long so that we can make sure that you are safe to receive the vaccine.
As the requirements for Yellow Fever are complex we suggest that you contact the doctor in the first instance to discus your itinerary and decide if vaccination is essential. Certain countries will not allow you to enter without having an YF certificate. We can supply you with a certificate once you have been vaccinated but it is important to note that the certificate will not be valid until 10 days after the vaccination date, so please do not book your travel before you know if you need the vaccination.
We are able to give the travel pack with yellow fever all on the same day.
