Health screening
At samedaydoctor Canary Wharf we offer a range of preventative screening options for our busy patients.
We realise that our patients lead very active busy and stressful lives, with little time to themselves. Although the NHS offers a superb emergency service, one of the most common complaints we hear from patients is that they do have little in the way of options in the NHS when it comes to preventative screening .
The problem is that for many GP’s in the NHS time is extremely limited with consultations lasting from 7-10 min per patient. This is obviously not enough time to even discuss one particular concern, let alone do any preventative work.
We therefore strive to fill the gap and provide our patients with a service tailored to their busy schedules and particular needs. We try to offer appointments at a convenient time to suit you and we set aside anywhere between 30- 50 minutes for these screens. This enables us to spend more time with our patients in order to address their concerns. We will not rush you as the whole aim is for you to feel relaxed and give us the time to take a proper history and do a full physical examination.
There are many different screening options ranging from the basic wellman/women screens to the more comprehensive executive screens. In addition we can do any combination of general and sexual health screening. If you have any specific request then we will do our utmost to accommodate you as far as possible.
Here is a list of our most common health screenings:
- Executive health screen – Our most detailed individual health screening with a long list of tests including blood tests, ECG and full physical examination
- Cardiac health screening – If you have a strong family history of cardiac disease, strokes, diabetes or if you are experiencing chest pain, this cardiac health screening could be a life saver
- Pre-employment medicals and health screening – We offer a bespoke service tailored to your exact employment requirements.
- Sexually transmitted infection (STI) screens and test – It is important to note that several of the STI’s can be asymptomatic so it is vital to have regular routine screens, especially if you have multiple partners and/ or you are having sex with someone other than your regular partner
When you book for a screen we ask for a £100 to secure the longer slot, this amount will be deducted from the cost of your screen with the remaining amount payable on the day you come in.
If you have any specific tests that you know you would like us to do and which is not included in the regular screens, please let us know your requirements beforehand and we can work out any additional costs before your visit.
As we also perform blood tests that look at your cholesterol and blood sugar it is advisable to fast for at least 8 hours before your appointment as this will give more accurate readings.
