Imaging (X-rays/USS/MRI/CT scans)
At samedaydoctor Canary Wharf, we offer a wide range of services. We have contacts locally in Canary Wharf, London Bridge and the City, that we refer to for any imaging procedures.
Typical scans we can refer for is, X-Rays of any part of the body, testes ultrasound scans, breast ultrasound scans, pelvic and abdominal scans, CT scans as well as MRI scans. Deciding which scan is appropriate will be done after we have more information about your symptoms.
If you require this service you will need to see our resident doctor first for a consultation and referral. If you have private medical insurance through one of the UK insurers we would then do the referral and you will need to get authorization from your insurance to authorise the scan, before you book the appointment. If you have an international insurance policy we would normally take payment here and do all the paperwork. You then claim the amount back from your insurance company. You can also just pay for it yourself if you do not have insurance cover.
The fees for this service, will differ depending on the type of scan it is you require, so it’s best to contact the doctor directly for more details on price.
For more complicated procedures such as ultrasound scans, CT scans or MRI, we would usually refer you to one of our local imaging partners. We have contacts with facilities in Canary Wharf , London Bridge as well as the City and in Central London, so you have a choice of convenient locations. Most scans can be arranged within a few days. Results are usually back within 24 hours.
We try and make the process as easy as possible for our busy patients, so if you need a scan done:
- Book appointment with our GP who can decide on the most appropriate investigation.
- If you are self funding or have international insurance, we will then take payment here, arrange an imaging appointment at a convenient time and place , pre-register you with the facility of your choice and sort out all the necessary paperwork.
- If you have UK private Medical insurance we will give you a referral form which you need to get authorised by your private insurance and then you book an appointment yourself, when convenient.
- Once the scan has been done we usually receive a full report within a 24-48 hours and we will then call you discuss the results and give advice on any further action needed.
If you would like the scan covered by your private insurers you will need to speak with them to get authorisation first and we will do the necessary referrals. It is very important to check whether they are happy for us to refer you directly and that they will refund the monies paid.
